**UPDATES**

*MATS 4th Annual Student Seminar & Bowl*
Sunday, November 11th, marked the 4th annual MATS Student Athletic Trainer Seminar and Bowl held at Central Michigan University. Students were honored to meet NATA President Elect, Marjorie Albohm, MS, ATC, LAT who gave the keynote address. This year’s theme was Becoming a Successful Athletic Trainer: What Do You Need In Your Toolbox?

Athletic Training Students from MSU were able to interact with students from CMU, UM, GVSU, Northern, LSSU, Western, Hope, and SVSU throughout the day while attending breakout sessions that included preparing for the BOC, marketing yourself, and the opportunities internships have to offer. In the afternoon, students were able to attend two sessions that included either athletic training administration, family and the ATC, or ethically risky situations.

The day ended with the exciting MATS Quiz Bowl. MSU was represented by three teams that included Erica Taylor, Joshua Nelson & Lindsey Pyc; Genevieve Gourlay, Justin Rogers, & Sidney Jones; and finally, Amanda Leyrer, John Mucovich, & Kayle Hisey. MSU was hoping for a win after last years heartbreaking second and third place finishes, however, this year’s competition was difficult and MSU was 60 points (1 question!) from a top place finish.
